Our Mission
Mission & Distinctives…
Loving God, Loving People, Sharing Jesus, Together
The above summarises our mission as a church. It’s taken from what’s known as the Great Commandment (Mark 12:28-31) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) in the Bible.
Loving God…
…means we have a real desire to know and love God more fully. Whether this be in Sunday services, small groups, ministries, activities, or in our personal walk with God day by day. We seek to grow our relationship with him through applying the Bible to life and prayerfully seeking to live his ways, because we love him.
Loving People…
…means we want to be a place where all are welcome to worship God and hear his wonderful good news for us. We want to care for people as Jesus cared, and so we run a number of ministries designed to reach our community with God’s love. We also pastorally and prayerfully look after all those entrusted to our care among our church community.
Sharing Jesus…
…means we place a priority on sharing the good news of Jesus with others. It’s called ‘the gospel’, which simply means ‘good news’ – that Jesus came to save sinners. It’s the best news we could ever hear, and sharing it with others is the task we’ve been given as his church. As the Great Commission tells us, we want to be making disciples (or simply, “students”) of him, baptising, teaching and then equipping the church to live more effectively, and more closely with him.
Together…
…simply means that we do all that we do as a church “together”. We want to build a committed, life-filled and life-bringing community where all have a part to play and can belong. We seek to serve, grow, learn, love and reach others as we follow Jesus… together!
